Free the Youth

Free the Youth was founded in 2013 by Jonathan Coffie and Kelly Foli as a collective of creative minds determined to empower the youth of Africa, to penetrate the art and fashion scene around the globe. The brands’ first collection went into production late 2015, with T-shirts and sweatshirts showcasing a simple message of “This is pain printed on cotton.” After showcasing at Accra Fashion week 2017, the streetwear designer brand gained momentum from the in-crowd.  The brand is supported and endorsed by local Ghanaian artists, who have helped take the brand mainstream.

While the founders’ initial vision was to simply showcase Ghanaian street style via social platforms, it has developed into a brand and a learning institute for art based aspiring youths, with its Ghetto University in Tema, Ghana.

Free the Youth is shaping the look of youth culture on the continent and beyond with thought provoking graphic print T-shirts, sweaters and denim. The brand has been featured by renowned fashion insiders such as Vogue, Highsnobiety and OkayAfrica.
